A unique, free and nomadic work
Traverses, traveling book, is a collection of furtive thoughts from fifteen authors, of their dreams and ideas on travel in all of its forms, which they have laid out on paper through words, drawings, poems.
Illustrators, ethnologists and writers, they have all bet on traveling, exploring other universes, and sometimes even domains other than their own.
Traverses is a strange book. You will not find it on the shelves of a library, nor in the window of a bookshop; it does not allow itself to be collected.
Traverses cannot be bought; it can be traded, offered and kept, only to be better transmitted again.
Keep it in transit between your hands and your eyes, time for it to rest and regain its breath; it has already traveled a lot.
Read it. Appreciate it and appreciate it even more for it is bound to be fleeting.
Un livre « tisseur de liens »
Laissez-lui un peu de vous. Votre nom, un dessin, un poème, une envie passagère, un rêve... complétez-le. Traverses n'est jamais fini, et son chemin non plus. Alors ne le gardez pas captif ; sa vie est sur les routes. Ne l'enfermez pas, vous l'étoufferiez. Donnez-lui un souffle nouveau ; diffuez-le autant que vous le voulez, imprimez-le, photocopiez-le : faites-lui reprendre son voyage.
Puis suivez ce voyage sur le site internet. Il vous suffit d'y entrer le nom imaginaire du Traverses que vous avez eu entre les mains pour le suivre dans ses pérégrinations de mains en mains, de villes en villes, de pays en pays.
A link-weaver
Leave a little bit of you with it. Your name, a drawing, a poem, a temporary desire, a dream. Complete it. Traverses is never achieved and neither is its path. So do not keep it captive ; its life belongs to the roads. Do not imprison it, you would choke it. Give it new breath ; diffuse it as much as you want, print it, photocopy it; make it restart its journey. Then follow its journey on the internet. You just need to enter the imaginary name of the Traverses that you had between your hands in order to follow its peregrination from hand to hand, town to town, country to country.
Through sharing, traverses weaves links. It enables meetings around events created by its traders, by the lovers of words and poetry. It opens a dialogue, serious or futile, grave or volatile, enduring or fleeting.

C'est un livre qu'on peut toucher, dont on peut apprécier le contact doux au bout de ses doigts, dont on peut respirer l'odeur de papier, d'encre et d'air frais / de large.
Mais c'est aussi un livre virtuel, immatériel, qui voyage sur les chemins numériques encore plus vite que sur les routes géographiques.

It is a book that you can touch, from which you can appreciate the soft contact on the tip of your fingers and breathe the odor of paper, ink, and fresh air.
But it is also a virtual and immaterial book, which travels on digital paths faster than on geographic roads. You will find the entire work, ready to be downloaded on its site and on Second Life. Follow its news and meet the ones who enjoyed it and gather around it on MySpace, Facebook and its blog.
Traverses, traveling book, has a calling for trade. In the end, it is by using its readers and their pleasure of reading and of going beyond the borders of possession that it will move ahead and live.
Un livre né par passion avec l’aide de mécènes
Traverses, livre voyageur, existe grâce à l'aide de mécènes privés, des auteurs et de tous qui se sont investis dans sa création. Il vit et voyage grâce à ceux qui l'ont aimé et veulent le faire découvrir, le partager, le distribuer au hasard ou au cours d'événements organisés. Ce sont les passeurs, d'un jour ou passionnés, qui ont eu l'envie de participer, eux aussi, à l'aventure Traverses.
Traverses est une graine sauvage, qui peut être emportée dans les endroits les plus improbables pour y pousser et semer à nouveau ; Traverses est les feuilles d'un arbre, dispersées en automne.

A book born by the passion of patrons
Traverses, traveling book, exists thanks to the help of private patrons, of authors and of all the ones who committed themselves to its creation. It lives and travels thanks to the ones who loved it and want to have it discovered, to share it , and to distribute it randomly or during organized events. They are the passers, passionate or for-the-day, who likewise had the desire to contribute to the Traverses adventure.

L’univers virtuel de Second Life, espace d’échange en 3D qui suscite tant de curiosité
et d’intérêt à l’heure actuelle, est la plateforme que nous avons choisie pour
présenter Traverses, livre voyageur, à la fois sous sa version électronique et
sous sa version papier. Un espace spécifique construit par l'équipe de Traverses
est dévolu au livre :

Traverses y est accessible et y évoluera au gré de rencontres, de conférences en ligne avec les auteurs et les différents acteurs intervenant dans la vie du livre et dans son voyage, mais aussi d'évènements qui permettront aux habitants de Second life d'échanger réellement l'ouvrage sous sa version papier en passant par le contact numérique.
Traverses in metaverses: Second Life
The book also has a place in other virtual and cultural places. We make a special entry for the “Bibliothèque Francophone”, held by Hugobiwan Zolnir assisted by Coulaut Menges. Coulaut Menges conceived 3D books, which will receive, along side text and images of traverses, contributions brought by readers through their “avatars”, three-dimensional representations, that will allow them to move through and interact on Second Life. One book per place constitutes de facto as many “unique” books, providing original contributions. A new way for Traverses, traveling book, to be in the center of a dynamic exchange.
